Aircraft typically park at closest 80m from proposed site. Runway about 150m away. Note aitport is on recliamed landfill, about 2 years old. All structures lie on existing land.

road to Tortola and Road Town (about 30min drive) winds around hillside. freight and gas loading zone make this area unsuitable for free field location

The free field location will be in the corner of the compound housing the control tower, in the middle of the photo. Site is secure, about 25m from Control tower complex, and about 40m from Main Terminal Building. Note a generator, (not on on both occasions when PRSMP visited) located below the main terminal, aabout 30m from sensor.

Note irregular shape of tower, eccentric loading of main observation area. Intersting shape warrants further study. We propose instrumenting the free-field initially, then upgrading complex to record channels at base of tower and top, to measure free periods, torsion and rocking of this structure. Also note 1 story building connected to tower.

Potential site in Terminal building
Potential site in Terminal building
potential site for sensor location were scouted inside the terminal. Very open layout of the steel frame made choosing a location difficult. A phone exchange room (open white door in center left of photo) was the only viewed alternative Considering the very light nature of the structure, is was also deemed more important to have a refernece station for the site (the location between this and the control tower makes proposed site ideal reference site for both structures)
