from the roof of the 2 storey Interpretive Center, the beach front directly to the East can be seen about 1km away

Interpretive Center roof to South
From the roof looking south, selected station site is to the top right of the vegetation.

Water reservoir from the Roof
View from the roof to the NorthWest. The major source of high frequency noise at the site is likely from a pump located under the roof to the front of the reservoir. The pump is regularly turned on throughout the day. The pump is about 400m from the selected site.

siteC
This site was considered, but is only about 50m from the Interpretive Center. A final selection was made of a similar site about 150m further along the path.

path
a view of the pathway leading from the Interpretive center to the selected site. This is a nature walk, it is rarely travelled, usually only by the odd tourist on foot
|
sinkhole e
sinkholes are a common feature in the limestone environment. Placing the sensors in one of these already dug holes (>2.5M) was considered, but flooding would be a major problem.

selected site
the site selected is about 150m from the interpretive Center, very near the end of the path (a site at the very end of the path was not selected as some large trees in the region would create extra noise). The site is in a large clearing, is about 8m set back from the main path, so is still very accesible, is not near any visible streams, and will require minimal clearing of vegetation.

selected site from the road
the end of the nature trail is about 50m further along this path

quarry beside the roadway
this quarry is about 1km from the selected site. Shows typical rock face expected at the site. The limestone is very weak, and it should be relatively easy to scour and dig to required depth of 5-6feet.
